What is the FCRA? The Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) ensures that consumer reporting agencies are fair, accurate, impartial and respect a consumer's right to privacy.
The FCRA makes sure that agencies use consumer reports -- any written, oral or other communication that reveals a person's credit standing and information about their character, reputation and mode of living for the purpose of getting a job, credit or insurance -- with fairness.
When hiring an agency to do a background check, it is a good idea to find out if it adheres to the FCRA.
